DHS staff face intense stress everyday so moments of respite over a meal or a comfortable corner for a vital conversation regarding the welfare of a family in crisis can go a long way. Help us breathe life, beauty, and peace into these communal spaces. We want these rooms to positively impact the staff so that ultimately they can pass that blessing on to the children they serve.

The Church in North Portland is teaming up with Embrace Oregon to show a little love to the Alberta Department of Human Services office this month.

Located at N Vancouver and N Alberta, this office is home to a team of tireless staff who work hard to do what is best for countless children and families in our neighborhoods. Here’s the thing though- the spaces where these dedicated employees can take a break and relax are… less than inspiring. That’s where you come in!  Beginning Saturday, February 18th two break rooms, an outdoor lounge area, and seven visitation rooms will undergo a three-day transformation by volunteers from the Church in North Portland and other partner agencies.

1. Donate

Like to shop? Check out our IKEA registry.  You can purchase and deliver the items yourself* or you can “chip in” on a big-ticket item that we’ll pick-up from the store closer to the big day. Prefer to give cash? We’ll gladly accept your tax-deductible donation and put it to good use.

2. Volunteer

Do you have a truck or space to store large-ticket items? Do you like to feed people? Perhaps you’re just looking forward to rolling up your sleeves and getting to work on Presidents’ Day Weekend. However you’re hoping to serve, this is the place to start. Complete the volunteer registration form below and a member of the organizing team will connect with you shortly.
